How to get Finality’s Auger in Destiny 2: Heresy

Shape? Final. Auger? Finality'd.

Destiny 2 has successfully kicked off its new Heresy seasonal batch of content, from the look of things. Good loot, good activities, and a solid gameplay loop do wonders for a game, after all, and the new Exotics help a bunch, too. Did you hear about Finality’s Auger, for one?

While Bungie’s never been particularly shy about giving away fancy new Exotics in Destiny 2, with the awesome Lodestar Trace Rifle being particularly easy to get, some of them remain quite exclusive. Dungeon Exotics, specifically, are sometimes rather hard to get, and that may be the case with Finality’s Auger as well. This Linear Fusion Rifle is attached to February 7th’s Sundered Doctrine Dungeon, and that means we’re in for a heck of a grind. Please note that I’m about to spoil virtually everything about Finality’s Auger down below, so beware if you’d like to keep things under the wraps for now.

Finality’s Auger Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle: Available via the Sundered Doctrine Destiny 2 Dungeon

Thanks to the wonderful resource that is Light.gg, we already know a bunch about Finality’s Auger, even though Bungie hasn’t officially shown it off proper. This Exotic is a Solar heavy Linear Fusion Rifle with promising base stats:

  • Impact: 41
  • Range: 50
  • Stability: 45
  • Handling: 31
  • Reload Speed: 30, 2.51s base animation length
  • Aim Assist: 65
  • Zoom: 25
  • Airborne: 25
  • Recoil: 80
  • Charge Time: 533
  • Magazine: 6 rounds

Decent stuff, but it goes without saying that an Exotic weapon’s unique Perk is the interesting bit. I’m happy to report that Finality’s Auger does not disappoint in this respect, at least on paper:

  • Ruinscribe’s Forge: Fire a projectile that deploys a Ruinscribe Turret. This projectile costs 3 ammo to fire. Aim the projectile skyward to provide the clearest sight-lines for the turret, which will automatically shoot at nearby targets.
  • Ruinscribe’s Beacon: With the Ruinscribe Turret deployed, Finality’s Auger can paint targets with laser projectiles. The Turret will then prioritize painted targets and fire more potent munitions at them. Can swap between normal and laser projectiles at will.

The curated roll of Finality’s Auger will include a punchy wombo-combo of Perks, too:

  • Arrowhead Brake (makes for a perfectly vertical recoil impulse)
  • Particle Repeater
  • Ruinscribe’s Beacon
  • Short-Action Stock

It remains to be seen how challenging, exactly, might it be to unlock Finality’s Auger. We don’t know yet if this is going to be a completely random drop, or if there’s a mini-quest attached to it. If you’re otherwise unlucky with Destiny 2 Exotic drops, the latter option may well be preferable. However, if it’s the former, then I expect that every Fireteam that successfully completed the Dungeon while its Race event is active will get the Exotic as well. We’ll know more very soon, so stay tuned.
