Biography
Nydia Morales-Soto joined the University of Notre Dame in 2011 and currently serves as Assistant Director of the Eck Institute for Global Health. In this capacity, she oversees interdisciplinary global health research and training programs and initiatives. Nydia’s role includes facilitating collaborations for project and proposal development. She serves as the liaison for domestic and international global health partnerships, including those in Bangladesh, Ecuador, Indiana (U.S.A.), Kenya, and Mexico. She played an instrumental role in launching the Global Health Club of Notre Dame, an undergraduate club that welcomes students from all academic disciplines seeking to explore how their studies align with the field of global health, while also serving as club co-advisor. Nydia co-developed and co-teaches the interdisciplinary fall course, Latino Health: Social, Cultural, and Scientific Perspectives. As a microbiologist and molecular biologist, her research is primarily centered around antimicrobial resistance, seeking to translate basic laboratory research for clinical and surveillance applications.
