Westin Smith

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. I received both a B.A in English and a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in French from Utah State University. At the University of Notre Dame, my graduate work centers on contemporary Spanish literature and its response to the climate crisis. More specifically, I am interested in how artistic and literary production engages with and presents the human/non-human relationship, with an emphasis on the figure of the animal. Additionally, I work with graphic novels, film, and poetry.
