Biography

Dr. Andrew Evans (they/them) is a Visiting Assistant Professor in Health, Humanities, and Society in the Reilly Center for Science, Technology, and Values. Andrew’s current research is on the relationship between suffering, well-being, and mental healthcare. Some questions that they investigate include: What is the purview of mental healthcare? What does it mean to say a condition is a “mental disorder”? How should suffering be treated by the mental health community? Andrew also has research interests in bioethics, philosophy of psychology, and socially engaged philosophy of science. They received their Ph.D. in Philosophy and M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Cincinnati.
