The GLOBES Program in Environment and Society at the Reilly Center for Science, Technology, and Values has admitted seven new students to its graduate certification program. GLOBES is designed to enhance the scholarship of diverse graduate (Ph.D. and M.S.) and law students at Notre Dame. The program strives to merge environmental and social issues with students' disciplinary research in the service of society and the planet. GLOBES currently serves 28 students with home departments in the College of Arts and Letters, College of Engineering, College of Science, Keough School of Global Affairs, and Law School.
Novita Liangga Kumala is the most recent student to join GLOBES, and is the first Master's student from the Keough School of Global Affairs. Novita is a licensed Indonesian advocate and environmental activist. She currently studies International Peace Studies in the Keough School of Global Affairs. Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of sectors including banking and finance, corporate law, social enterprise, and environmental policy. Her current research interests are related to environmental peacebuilding and natural resource management. She has worked for international agencies, Indonesia’s national commission on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+), and a corporate law firm in Jakarta.
